ОАО NGK Slavneft is fully aware about its responsibility before the society, living and future generations for environment preservation and protection at the territories where the Holding performs its activity. Environmental friendliness, rational use of natural resources, protection of health of the personnel and population in the regions of the Company presence are the most topical for the Company.
Striving to ensure stable and dynamic business development is based on the understanding that eco-friendly production process is the guarantee of successfulness and competitiveness of ОАО NGK Slavneft. Environmental actions take an important place in annual investment plans of the Company.
Slavneft’s environmental activity is aimed at continuous enhancement of environmental and industrial safety of production and minimization of man-caused load to the environment in the course of hydrocarbons production and processing. To achieve the targets, the Company carries out the following actions:
- production facilities upgrading; introduction of new advanced technologies, materials and equipment to ensure minimization of negative impact on the environment and simultaneous increase in production volumes;
- enhancement of the quality of technical documentation preparation, compulsory expertise of all projects to determine the optimal options for their implementation in terms of industrial and environmental safety;
- continuous environmental monitoring of production facilities to obtain operative information about the status of the environment and degree of environmental impact.
In order to effectively attain the targets, the Company introduced and maintains the integrated system of environmental and occupational health management certified for conformity to the ISO 14001:2004 (environment management system) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (occupational health and safety system) international standards. A special role is devoted to improvement of corporate culture, increase of responsibility and competencies of the personnel related to the issues of environment preservation, industrial and labor safety.
The Slavneft’s key environmental activities in oil production are:
- rational associated gas utilization;
- land contamination control and restoration of disturbed soils;
- pipeline systems reliability enhancement;
- introduction of low-waste technologies for subsoil use;
- industrial wastes utilization.
At present, within the framework of atmosphere protection OAO NGK Slavneft implements the program aimed to increase the level of associated gas utilization up to 95% in KHMAO-Yugra. This program involves the development of energy generating capacities and gas-and-transport infrastructure at new fields put into operation in 2004-2009. Great emphasis is laid on protection of land resources. To date, the problem of restoration of lands contaminated within the period of early field development is completely solved in KHMAO-Yugra, the main oil production region of the Holding. Disturbed soils are restored on a regular basis. The Company actively works at modernization of pipeline systems. This work includes reconstruction and annual chemical treatment of fuel and gas main lines, installation of early detection systems. When constructing new oil pipelines, the Company uses the pipes made of corrosion resistant composite materials. Slavneft’s oil men were one of the first who started to introduce the environmentally friendly sumpless drilling technology. To date, alongside with the sumpless method of well construction the Holding’s subsidiaries widely apply low waste production technologies, create additional capacities for storage, recycling and utilization of oil sludge.
The Company’s oil processing subsidiaries also carry out active environmental activity in the result of which harmful pollutant emissions into the atmosphere are considerably reduced, the amount of wastes accumulated decreases, the quality of industrial wastes is significantly improved. During the recent decade, the leading Slavneft’s refineries perform large-scale actions for modernization and reconstruction of process capacities aimed not only to increase the oil processing depth and enhance the products quality, but to increase the level of production environmental safety.
Thanks to actions taken, ОАО Slavneft-YANOS, the main Holding’s oil processing subsidiary, managed practically to reduce twice the volume of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere within tight deadlines. Construction of the advanced waste water treatment station and other water protection actions enabled to enhance the quality of wastes according to the requirements of the 1st category fishery water bodies. ОАО Slavneft-YANOS achieved great success in output of eco-friendly products. In the recent years the subsidiary invariably is among the industry leaders for production of modern euro standards fuel.
